SuzyTonini wins SourceCon 2007’s Sourcing Challenge #2

If you have’nt heard it yet, Suzy Tonini has won the Round 2 of the Sourcing Challenge organized by SourceCon 2007.

Suzy Tonini began her career with internet sleuthing back in 1996 when she uncovered a scam involving treasure hunters and a very prominent investor. Online forums involving these shady characters led her to the real scoop, and long story short, the investor flew her up and promptly stopped the whole operation, saving him possibly millions of dollars.

When Suzy joined MRI back in 1999 as an Internet Researcher, she quickly was nominated to be among the top 5% of the researchers in the industry. In 2001, she co-founded MTR Executive search and then later InfoSourcer, diligently searching for IT candidates when the IT industry was in the doldrums. In August 2006, Suzy accepted a contract assignment with Deloitte Services and was tasked, initially, with finding great SAP Consultants. Her success and strengths of her internet research skills have since been utilized in various areas of Deloitte, and she joined them full-time as a Manager of Internet Research in April 2007. Suzy truly enjoys her sleuthing work and loves being a part of a great team.

Suzy has also posted how she won the challenge on her post “How I Won SourceCon Challenge #2

The Challenge #3 is all set to be launched on August 13, 2007 at 12.00 PM EDT… So tune in to SourceCon… Till then my best wishes to Suzy and also the winner of Sourcing Challenge #1! Great show guys… Great work!

The Rise of Vertical Job Search Engines

Vertical Job Search Engines are Job Search Engines with a Difference. Vertical Job Boards is a new way to Index Jobs freely from employers sites, Manpower Consultant Websites, Traditional Career sites etc all at the same time. Like any other search engine, a vertical search engine also is a door to information, but vertical search engines tend to streamline information easier and most importantly at one stop.

The success of Indeed, Simplyhired, Jobster evokes introduction by many players with respect to Asian / Indian context as well. Recruit.net, adopted job aggregators / job metasearch site first in Asia and later followed up by creating the Indian Version as well India.Recruit.net. Bixee founded by ex-Yahoo employees which is now a part of MIH.

Yesterday, I came across another IT Vertical search engine, Gladoo which is currently in Beta Testing Phase. Gladoo has struck the right notes by targeting the IT Industry and this site offers one stop search access to jobs by aggregating job listings from all major job portals, classified sites, recruitment agenc ies, and corporate websites. The look and feel is very Web 2.0ish and has been created by Avake, a Technology company who have their roots from the Silicon Valley. Gladoo can also collect Job Listings from your Career Site, all you have to do is fill this form, their spiders will do the rest.

Gladoo

I am also glad to see that India’s leading Portal, Rediff has also started its Jobs Search Engine, which I will be covering in the future posts.

If you are asger to know the best Job Search Aggregators, you will find them on The Job SearchVertical’s list and Eric Shannon if you are reading this post, you now have few more to add in your list.

JobReferrals at its best!

Just stumbled across another useful site, JobReferrals.in which is dedicated to Employee Referrals. So how does this work

Job Holders

  • Post internal vacancies in your teams , organization
  • Chose the best candidates from the job seeking members database
  • Collect resumes from employee profiles and refer them to your organization
  • Help your organization recruit best people and get rewarded with referral bonus!

Job Seekers

  • Browse job vacancies in organizations of your choice
  • Browse through the profiles of site members of the organization of your choice
  • Send them your resumes and get referred internally
  • Read reviews of the organizations , and make an informed decision regarding a career move
  • Read domain reviews, and find out what people have to say about a particular career stream they have been in.

Organizations

  • Organizations can advertise for open positions & they will be indicated as a featured item in the vacancies section. As a premium member posting, it will carry more credibility and visibility than the user submitted vacancies.

What I don’t like:

  1. Usability
  2. Google Advertisements which interupt healthy browsing
  3. PR / Marketing – I hope my post helps

JobReferrals might not directly monetize you directly like how frontFoot & NDTVJobs, but you surely can earn you referral Bonus from your employer… :)
