Blame it on the Internet Providers!

Its been a while that I’ve been able to post my thoughts or updated this blog. Why? Blame the Internet Providers. Its been a month that I have applied for a broadband connection in Malad, Mumbai but Internet Providers in Malad seem to hate me and aren’t providing me a connection.

I am running out of choice and am gonna get connected by hook or crook in the coming weeks…

See you guys ASAP!

Alumwire is Here With A Bang!

Alumwire is a social networking job site who are targeting fresh college graduates and also targeting seasoned professionals through the alumni networks. The site has been creating some hype and have been featured on CNet too.

Alumwire

The site has integrated with facebook and also features Video’s (Video Resumes) and social networking without doubt! The service began at Harvard University and over 1000 US colleges are supported now. Employer can use the network too for recruiting, and students can use it to connect professionally and get their dream jobs :)

The concept sounds very similar to Jobster and I for sure think that the alumni concept could work for Alumwire. As of now, Alumwire’s Co-Founders have already been named “Top 25 American Entrepreneurs Under 25″.

Is Facebook Insane?

For a while Facebook has been outgrowing various Social Networks and since they released their API’s to developers they have grown leaps and bounds. I’ve enjoyed Facebook and I did think Facebook might be even able to topple Orkut in India, until I recently I read that Harry Joiner, our very own Marketing Headhunter was blocked on Facebook for uploading his Address Book!

Yes, you heard me right! Facebook has sent him a mail stating that their decision was final! But why?

I am still trying to understand if there are limits set as to an XYZ person can only have 100 friends then it must be conveyed / warned in advance. For a person like Harry, who has 4300 contacts should only benefit Facebook rather than hurt them. I also remember doing the very same on LinkedIn recently with ease.

If they thought that a user was a spammer then they should have confirmed the same before they can take action against a user. Really Insane!

As predicted, the entire Recruiting Community is now with Harry against “Facebook’s War On Recruiters”. Let me know your thoughts on this insane act!
