A Microsoftie’s Perspective – Life at Google

I came across this blog post by a person who was associated with Microsoft who later started up a venture which was bought over by Google and has posted his take on Google’s environment as well as areas Microsoft should consider improving in order to be more competitive.

Some interesting comments were:-

  • There is no career development plan from individual contributor to manager.
  • Most people don’t actually have a 20% project. Most managers won’t remind you to start one.
  • Google actually pays less salary than Microsoft. Google’s health insurance is actually not nearly as good as Microsoft’s.

I am still not sure whether this post is a credible resource to think that Google is Evil, but i’ve surely heard that Google Employees in India, do not have facilities like the ones Googleplex :) . Microsoft, if you are reading this… there are few tips for you… Implement them – People will love you a lot more!
